Notes on 1932-34
4 Cyl FORD Fuel pumps and fuel lines:
Before reassembling the pump make sure the 2 casting halves that
touch the diaphragm and the flange to block surface are flat.
Check and fix this by rubbing the castings on sand paper on a flat surface.
When assembling the 2 casting halves they need to be brought together
with the diaphragm all at the same time.
Clamp one ear of the pump in a vice so that you can push the lever arm SLIGHTLY TO BRING THE DIAPHRAGM DOWN WITH THE TOP HALF.
Sometimes this takes a helper to start and
snug screws while YOU HOLD THE LEVER AND CASTING PIECES TOGETHER.
This ensures that the diaphragm is in a
NEUTRAL position for full travel either way.
Be very careful starting fuel line threads,
sometimes you might
have to loosen the
carburetor mounting bolts
to get things to line up correctly.
A rigid line between to fixed pieces can bE
A LITTLE TRICKY AND CAN LEAD TO CROSS THREADING
